South Australian history buffs, you’d better keep all of May 2011 free, because in 2011, SA History Week will become: About Time: South Australia’s History Festival, which will run from 1 May to 31 May 2011.

SA History Week has grown from modest beginnings in 2004 to become South Australia’s largest community festival. The change of identity to About Time: South Australia’s History Festival and the expansion of the program to a month reflects the success of the program, and has been made possible by a grant of funds from the SA Government to mark the 175th anniversary of the foundation of the Province of South Australia.

We hope that the 2011 program will be bigger and better than ever!

If you or an organisation you are involved with wishes to be a part of next year’s About Time: South Australia’s History Festival, you can do so by contacting History SA and asking for a registration form, or as of Monday 8th November you can register online at www.historyweek.sa.gov.au/about-time-2011.

Don’t hesitate to contact HistorySA if you have any queries or to discuss your proposed event: (08) 8203 9888 or at abouttime@history.sa.gov.au.

Please note that email and postal registrations close on Monday 31 January. Online registrations close on Friday 11 February. No late registrations will be accepted.

We’re all looking forward to a bumper program that reflects the richness and diversity of South Australia’s history, and would love for you to be a part of it as well.
