Magazine publishing is a financially difficult business, and specialty genealogy magazines are no exception.

It was only a few months ago that the last issue of The National Archives ‘Ancestors‘ magazine went to print. And in the last few years the US and Canada has seen the demise of Ancestry Magazine, Evertons Genealogical Helper, Heritage Quest, Genealogical Computing and Discovering Family History.

Having been a longtime reader of ‘Practical Family History‘, it is with sadness that I advise that this too will soon be on the list of genealogy magazines that have ceased production.

Chris who writes the Scottish GENES (GEnealogy News and EventS) blog mentions that “… ABM Publishing has decided to cancel its long running magazine, Practical Family History, after the December issue, following a poor year in what has become an increasingly difficult trading environment …”

So it is farewell to another great genealogy magazine!!
