National Volunteer Week (NVW) is the annual celebration in Australia “to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers”.

While National Volunteers Week celebrates volunteers from all parts of life, to put it into a genealogical and historical context – just think of how many thousands of volunteers there are who help out at genealogy groups, historical societies, museums, libraries and archives around the country! Not to mention the many, many thousands more who help from home by text correcting, uploading pictures, or indexing records online. THEY ALL COUNT!!

Anyway, from 20 through until 26 May 2018, events are held across the country to say thank you to the 6 million Australians who volunteer their time, and you can find details of those here.

For more on National Volunteer Week, please visit their website, and please remember to say a HUGE, HUGE THANKYOU to the volunteers who help make everyone’s research a little easier everyday.

As they say …

“GIVE A LITTLE, CHANGE A LOT”
AND
“MAKING A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE”
