It was back in February 2020 when the National Library of Australia (NLA) announced that they were working on updating the Trove website, and they even gave users a sneak peek into how it was looking back then, to get feedback.
June 26, 2020 is the date they have given as the launch of the shiny new, updated website, and that’s not far away. So who’s excited?
The NLA advises that “all the content you know and love in Trove will still be there” and they are still “adding new material every day”. They also advise that accounts, text corrections, tags and categories that you’ve created in the current Trove will carry over to the new one.
So to give you a heads-up on what it looks like, and how to get around … the National Library of Australian have created a few short introductory #TroveTips videos.
So if you’re eager to get going on the new, updated Trove they do have a big note on the top bar of their current site saying that “Trove is changing soon. From June 22, try the updated version of Trove before we switch over permanently on June 26. See our social media for details.“
As an active ‘Trov-le-dyte’ / searcher / historian with multiple Trove profiles and log-ins, I am extremely disappointed with the ‘New Trove’ and their weasel words in the press releases.
I ran a Forum page for the ‘Berrima District Historical Society’ that was eliminated after Trove / nla had some security issues with hackers, the benefits of that forum I expected to be restored with the new site, but alas this does not appear to be the case.
I had heard that you people were to make a submission to the nla on poor features of the new trove is that correct?
I have loads of issues with it!
