AFTC Magazine - 2014-05The end of one month and the beginning of the next sees the new issues of genealogy magazines arrive. One that has just landed on my desk is the May 2014 issue of the Australian Family Tree Connections magazine.

Mother’s Day is in May so this issue features some lovely mothers and their families, as well as other articles you’ll find fascinating.

In this issue you’ll find articles on the following: Winifred tells readers about a different angle on family history which is definately one that many wouldn’t think of!; Meanwhile Kaye writes about the Smith family of Cowra Creek; Joseph Le Burn c1800-1850 was a witness on so many of Dasha’s family certificates, she decided to research him;  Jan shares photographs of Minnie (Smith) Sauer and her family and Jo-Anne shares a photograph of St Finbarr’s ‘A’ Grade Basketball Team from 1947. Harry writes about #1547 Corporal James Roy Felan (5th Infantry Bridgade, D Company, 16th Platoon, 17th Battalion, 2nd Division AIF); and Meg share her brickwall issues regarding Arthur Walter Davis and how she smashed it!

While in the Can You Help? section Amanda asks “Who was Caroline (Woodman) Cavinet”; and Margaret writes about a relative who was one of the identified men from the Fomelles’ soldiers exhumed from Pheasant Wood – Private George Henry Lucre 467 Fromelles; Joanne has  a query as to if Mary Lane and Mary Dolphin are actually the same person; and Janet is seeking Thomas ‘Tom’ Davis; Robin has shared a class photograph fromt he Newcastle Girsls High School in 1932, and was hoping for reader to help name those who are in it.

The New on the Net section has a heap of new records featured includuing additions to findmypast, Origins.net and the deceasedonline as well as GenTeam, FIBIS, Northern Irelands BDM Records and a bunch more.
