Certificates are an important part of research, but they’re not cheap. Particularly those in Australia which average around $50 per certificate.

However now the General Record Office (GRO) in England have just announced that they’re bringing in a price increase too.

From 16 February 2019 the price of English and Welsh civil birth, death and marriage certificates goes from £9.25 up to £11.00 and priority orders increase from the current £23.40 up to £35.00.

Additionally there are new fees being introduced, such as a charge of £3.00 if a full index reference is not supplied. The document with all the fees and prices can be found here.

While it’s not a huge increase, if you order now you’ll save yourself some money.
