Councils, schools, universities, museums, RSL clubs, military groups, individuals and other community groups around South Australia (actually around Australia for that matter) like to honour the locals who were involved in war. But creating and maintaining memorials, or other projects does cost money, so at least for those in South Australia, the Anzac Day Commemoration Fund Grants are ideal.

As it does each year, Veterans SA invites “organisations and community groups to apply for funding for projects within South Australia aimed at educating the community and commemorating our nation’s military heritage.”

Beginning in 2005, the Anzac Day Commemoration Fund has provided grant funds annually towards so many incredible projects across South Australia that commemorate Anzac Day over the past 14 years.

The Grants …
In 2019-2020 there is $100,000 in grant funding available, and some suggestions for projects include:

  • restoration and protection of war memorials across South Australia
  • raising community awareness of Australia’s military history
  • contributing to a state-wide program of diverse, inclusive and educative commemorative projects and activities
  • encouraging community participation and engagement
  • promoting social, cultural and economic benefit to the community.

Veterans SA advises that “Approved projects could include commemorative events, exhibitions, research, community education activities and the restoration of memorials. Applications that demonstrate collaborative approaches or partnerships are encouraged.’
