Historical newspapers are a truly incredible resource for family historians, and for British ones the place to go is the British Newspaper Archive.

With over 22 million pages online already, but still only about halfway through the project … think of all the amazing stories just waiting to be found in those papers.

Unlike Australia’s historical newspapers site, Trove. the British Newspaper Archive is a pay site and you can subscribe for a month, a year, or simply buy credits. However they’ve just added a new item to their subscription options, and that is a three month subscription.

I like this one, as you might be hot on the trail of your ancestors for a month or two, then life takes over, or another family takes you in a different direction. So to me one month isn’t enough, and a year would be too much (or too expensive) for many … so three months seems a good option!
