Unlock the Past logoUnlock the Past’s 6th Cruise has been open for booking for a few months now. This is a short 3 day cruise out of Sydney and back, which is perfect for those who can’t take much time off of work, or away from the family for long, or those who simply want to see what a genealogy conference at sea is really like. This cruise allows you to dip your toes in so to speak.

In addition to that the Unlock the Past team have organised a conference on Norfolk Island after the cruise. This was based on interest from their polls. As the cruise ship doesn’t go to Norfolk Island this is being organised as a separate event, and you fly there. But is timed for those who wish to do one (the cruise), two (the Norfolk Island tour) or both options.

THE NORFOLK ISLAND CONFERENCE

3 nights, 29-31 October 2014 on Norfolk Island
The conference will consist of either two full days or three part days with 12-15 sessions over that period. These will run from Wed-Thurs (29-30 Oct) or Wed-Fri (29-31 Oct). The minimum duration from any one city will be a trip of five days, but six and eight days will be preferred by many, allowing plenty of time to do both the conference and all Norfolk Island has to offer.

The leading presenters for the conference on the island are:  Shauna Hicks who is Australia’s most sought-after genealogy/history presenter, and Cathy Dunn who is a leading Norfolk Island and convict specialist.

You can make this as much of a holiday as you wish. Go straight after the cruise, and it gives you a few days before the Conference begins, or stay longer – the choice is up to you. While Unlock the Past are organising the conference, travel, accommodation, meals and optional Norfolk Island activities are extra.

As with any Unlock the Past event, you can attend as much or as little as you wish. You’re given complete freedom to do Norfolk Island tourist things as well, or just mix with other genealogists along for the trip.

Bookings for the conference on Norfolk Island are made through Unlock the Past.
