After the success of history month over the past two years, the team behind South Australia’s About Time History Festival are already planning for the 2014 one. They’ve updated their website and are now taking details of events for next year, which you can add online yourself.
Registrations for events will close on Friday 7 February 2014 for those done online, or Friday 31 January 2014 for those by email and postal registrations.
There were over 500 events held during the About Time Festival this year, and with the interest constantly growing, I wouldn’t be surprised if 2014 is even bigger. With tours, walks, seminars and presentations, open days, exhibitions, workshops and more … it’s a great way to showcase South Australia’s heritage and the pioneers of the region.
To keep up with the latest news sign up to the About Time email newsletter to keep up to date with the latest happenings, or follow them on Twitter or Facebook.
So to all the genealogy groups and societies, historical societies, museums, churches and cemeteries, community groups and anyone else who has an interest in preserving and promoting South Australia’s history now’s your chance to show your heritage. Organise your event now.
Looking forward to development of strand in History Month for History in the Pub — could involve a whole new set of people. Intend to do a McGowan event in Reepham pub on account of Islington residence.
The Avatar picture is J.P. McGowan of Terowie and Islington in his 1916 Hollywood role, Whispering Smith. Look for biog by John J. McGowan, McFarland (US) 2005, now O/P unfortunately (tho good for author!).
