It’s only a couple of months until the Unlock the Past crew, together with about 150 other keen genealogists will be sailing out of Sydney on the 3rd History & Genealogy Cruise, eager not only to soak up the sun, but also to expand their knowledge and hopefully break down some brickwalls in their genealogy.

Meanwhile plans are already well underway for the 4th History & Genealogy Cruise, in February 2014. Now I know that sounds ages away doesn’t it, but how many times this year have you complained about the year ‘flying by’? See … so, it will come quick!

Anyway here’s some sneak peek details on the 4th History & Genealogy Cruise:

Dates
4-13 February 2014

The Destination
Sydney -> Melbourne -> Adelaide -> Hobart -> Sydney

The Ship
Royal Caribbean’s ‘Voyager of the Seas‘ (the same one as the 3rd History & Genealogy Cruise)

The Price
from $1399 per person twin share

The Presenters
Thomas MacEntee (from the US)
Thomas is a professional genealogist, as a well-known speaker at genealogy conferences. He is an expert on all things to do with genealogy technology – having founded the GeneaBloggers and High-Definition Genealogy websites amongst others.

Chris Paton (from Scotland) – Chris is a professional genealogist who was born in Ireland and lives in Scotland, so has an indepth knowledge of genealogy from both regions. He is also a regular contributor to genealogy magazines, author of a growing number of books, a course presenter with Pharos, as well as being the author of the British GENES blog.

You can read more about each of them here.

Further presenters will be announced soon …

The Program
As usual it will offer a wide range of topics to choose from to suit all interests, with approx. 60 topics. Some of the key streams planned are genealogy technology; England, Ireland and Scotland; Australia and New Zealand; Writing history; Military; and Convicts.

The Learning
Now you may or may not go home with a tan, but I guarantee that you will go home with a notebook chock-full of notes that you took in the talks. You’ll be so eager to get home to use proper internet (as opposed to the ship’s satellite internet) and get started on the new avenues of research which you’ve found out about. But without a doubt you’ll learn lots!

The Fun
It’s guaranteed!
