Victorian family history groups, historical societies, museums, heritage centres, local archive centres and other community groups with a historical focus, hands up who would like some money for your group! Yes, I know all of you would. Well now is your chance to apply for a Local History Grant, as the 2011-2012 Victorian Local History Grant Applications are now open.

The Premier and Minister for the Arts Ted Baillieu has invited community groups across Victoria to apply for a share of $350,000 in funding to tell their stories. Administered by the Public Record Office Victoria, the Local History Grants Program provides grants of up to $12,000 to community organisations to support the cost of projects that preserve, record or publish Victorian local history.

The program supports projects that help communities connect with their history in innovative and engaging ways, including written histories, the preservation of precious collections and the sharing of stories through exhibitions and multimedia, to help Victorians understand their past and enrich their future.

The grants are now open to applications. Click here for further details, including the application form.
