Global Search for Descendants of Berwick Families

Berwick-upon-Tweed is a town in Northumberland, England, which is generally known as simply Berwick, and has a VERY long history. This town is situated in England, but is only 4km from the Scottish border. Now there is a global search on to find descendants of those who used to live in this town. Sounds like a grand plan, but it is for a grand occasion, as 2015 is the 900th anniversary of the town.

Webinars. They are slowly getting known, but I still think a lot of people don’t actually know what a Webinar is. In short, it in a seminar or presentation that you watch on your computer. You can watch it live at a specified time, or later through YouTube or a similar viewing program. In terms of genealogy think of them like video tutorials, and with the topics covered you could do almost all of your genealogy training online through watching webinars.

New Project on British Officers in WWI Begins

Well here’s another fabulous new project, Professor Michael Durey, from Murdoch University is undertaking an ambitious project to chronicle the lives, deaths and memorialisation of 1700 British officers who were killed on the Western Front in the Great War of 1914-1918.

The Society of Genealogists (SoG) is a UK-based society founded in 1911. As do most Societies, it has a quarterly journal.
