The first of four Unlock the Past History and Genealogy Expo’s this year will be held in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales. This is going to be a major history-genealogy-heritage event for not only those in and around Coffs Harbour, but for much of New South Wales and Southern Queensland.

South Australia’s History Week has grown from being a week long celebration to now encompass a full month. That month being May 1-31. And that’s not the only change, HistorySA have also renamed the event to About Time: South Australia’s History Festival.

The Australian census will be taken on Tuesday 9 August 2011. Australians will again have the choice to have their personal information stored for 99 years. To have your information saved you must say YES to question 60.

Do you have photos, diaries, letters, stories or oral histories relating to our major convict heritage sites in Tasmania that you would like to share? If you do, you are invited to attend events at the Tasmanian World Heritage-listed Convict Sites to celebrate Australian Heritage Week.

The UK’s first ever Start Your Family Tree Week will be launched on December 26. Designed to encourage people to take the first steps in discovering their family history. South Australian history buffs, you’d better keep all of May 2011 free, because in 2011, SA History Week will become: About Time: South Australia’s History Festival, which will run from 1 May to 31 May 2011.

It is ALL GO here at the moment, with work on the Chris Paton Scottish Roadshow, the History & Genealogy Expo in Sydney, and the History & Genealogy Roadshow Australia & New Zealand throughout November.
