R.I.P. Diane Cummings

Cummings Diane and KennethLast week saw the passing of another great name in the Australian genealogy world. Diane Cummings (generally known as Di), who was well-known around both South Australia and Victoria had been ill for some time, and passed away last Tuesday, 24th June 2014.

Although Di lived in Victoria, she had a lot of to do with the Fleurieu Peninsula Family History Group in South Australia. The convenor of the FPFHG Facebook page writes …

One of the greatest supporters of FPFHG has passed away. A generous lady who kindly donated the series of books Pioneers Bound for South Australia to the club and together with Di we publish and sell the series of books. If you would like to read about Di follow the link Rest in Peace Di. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~dicummings/DiCummings.htm

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.

Di and I only met a few times but for some strange reason we spent a lot of time just talking and comparing notes long after every one had gone home! Her knowledge and intensity may have led to her being misjudged a number of times? R.I.P.
