The UKs first ever Start Your Family Tree Week was held last year, and now it’s on again!! Start Your Family Tree Week will begin on Boxing Day (26 Dec 2011) and run through until New Year’s Day (1 Jan 2012).

Boxing Day is one of the most popular times of the year for people to research their family history, I know I’m hoping to. With the family gathered around for the festivities, it’s the perfect time to quiz the older generations on what they remember about the family, and get the youngsters inspired too.  And with nothing but repeats on TV all week, it is the absolute perfect time to get down to some serious record searching.

With this in mind, findmypast.co.uk and Genes Reunited will be taking part in this year’s Start Your Family Tree Week.  From Boxing Day 2011 right through to New Year’s Day they will have special offers every day, including free getting started guides, printable charts, discounts and competitions.

To find out what will be on offer, visit www.findmypast.co.uk/content/start-your-family-tree-week/index and www.genesreunited.co.uk/static.page/syftw now!

It is a UK initiative, but people worldwide should use it to encourage a brother, sister, cousin, parents, auntie or uncle or friend to start their own family history? You already know how fun and rewarding it can be, so encourage them to start the journey. Besides it is always more fun if you have someone who is also researching, that you can share the excitement with.
