The Guild of One-Name Studies is a charitable organisation dedicated to promoting the one-name studies and the preservation of information relating to them. Founded in 1979 in Britain, the Guild has members all over the world, and is widely recognised as a centre of excellence in one-name studies.

The Guild brings together those with an interest in one-name studies and other forms of surname study (such as DNA projects). Many members register a surname so as to embark on a Guild-recognised one-name study and coordinate world-wide activity in studying the surname.

A Press Release recently sent to me from The Guild of One-Name Studies advises of a very special offer that they are offering to all new joiners during the three days that the ‘Who Do You Think you Are? Live‘ event is on in London (Fri 25th Feb through to Sun 27th Feb).

Normally membership to the Guild costs £15.00 and covers a period of up to a year with renewal on 1st November 2011. This special extended membership will cost £20.00 and will include a full year’s extra membership, with renewal not being due until 1st November 2012. The aim is attract more new members and to encourage these members to stay with the Guild for longer and to appreciate and utilise the various benefits available to them.

For those who cannot attend the ‘Who Do You Think you Are? Live‘ event since it’s on the other side of the world (or for any other reason), the special offer will be made available for a week from when the show opens on Friday 25th February 2011 (UK time) on the Guild Website:
