A world leader in online genealogy certificate courses and distance education, the National Institute of Genealogical Studies method of study allows students to study at their own pace, at the time and place convenient for them.

At last year’s History & Genealogy Roadshow: Australia & New Zealand, Louise St Denis (Director of the National Institute of Genealogical Studies) announced the new Australian Certificate, as well as appointment of Kerry Farmer as Director, Australian Studies with the company.

The good news is that the new “Australian Records Certificate” is now available, and starts in 7 February 2011.

The courses currently available include:

  • Australia: Birth, Deaths and Marriages
  • Methodolgy Courses (Getting Started and also Organizing and Skillbuilding)
  • Analysis and Skills Mentoring
  • Convict Records
  • Immigration Records: Free Settlers
  • and more

Twelve more courses covering the range of Australian records will become available over the course of 2011.

Any of the courses can by taken independently. Also in February the course ‘Research: Australian and New Zealand Ancestors’ will be running, so register now for this if you wish to be involved.

The Institute offers Certificate Programs in the records of Australia, Canada, England, Ireland, Germany, Scotland and the United States, as well as a Librarianship Certificate.
