Family Tree Maker – User Groups in Australia

Family Tree Maker is one of the world’s most popular genealogy software programs, and as such has a large following of users in Australia.

While for most Family Tree Maker is an easy program to get into, interacting with a User Group will enable you to share your knowledge with others and learn from them too. There are always lots of tips and tricks to pick up and you will learn creative ways of using Family Tree Maker. If you are new to the Family Tree Maker (or new to a newer version), attending a User Group meeting will help you get started, both in finding out what you can do in Family Tree Maker, and how to how to use it efficiently.

I am an intelligent woman and had a Legacy family tree which was soooo easy to use but I changed to a Mac Apple so had to leave the Legacy and bought the #1 Family Tree Maker and am really struggling with it here on my own in New Zealand because its instructions are sooo American that it is almost another language!!!

I cannot work out how to do the source citations and I would believe that if you have lots of classes in Australia that I am not alone but I live in a small place on the east coast of the North Island. Is there anyone that can help get me started??
    Regards Sandra

Hi Sandra, I’m sorry to hear that you’re have problems. There is a guy in the US who has done a bunch of videos on FTM Mac http://genealogytools.com/category/family-tree-maker-for-mac/ so they that may help, but I’d also post the question on the the FTM Message Board http://boards.rootsweb.com/topics.software.famtreemaker/mb.ashx. Alternatively if you are a Facebooker, there a a whole bunch of FB groups relating to FTM online http://www.facebook.com/search/results.php?q=family%20tree%20maker&init=quick&tas=0.3643181590647324
